Privacy
How we handle visitor information. Updated October 14, 2026.
Browsing the Site
Poll Behavior has no visitor accounts. Payments take place on PayPal; we do not collect card or bank details on this site. Searches appear in the page URL. Please use search for teams, voters and seasons, and do not enter personal information.
My Teams Preferences
My Teams saves up to three team identifiers in your browser on this device. We do not send your saved list to our servers or analytics. Open the My Teams picker to remove a team or reset the list. Clearing this site's browser data also removes saved preferences. If your browser blocks storage, changes last for the current visit only.
Weekly Newsletter
When you sign up, we store your email address, the page where you signed up, and request and confirmation times in Cloudflare. We use Resend to send a confirmation link and add your address to our newsletter list only after you confirm. We do not sell your address or send it to website analytics. Email-open and link-click tracking are disabled.
Confirmation links expire after 24 hours. Routine maintenance removes expired or failed requests after seven days; a request waiting to be sent can remain for up to 14 days. We retain confirmed consent records, a newsletter identifier linked to your email address, and unsubscribe records to manage the list, keep older unsubscribe links working, and respect your choices. Short-lived, keyed hashes of network addresses help limit abuse; our newsletter database does not store raw IP addresses.
Unsubscribe using the link in any newsletter. Newsletter replies are not monitored. For access or deletion requests, email pollbehavior@protonmail.com. We may retain the minimum information needed to honor an unsubscribe request. Resend and Cloudflare process information under their own privacy policies: Resend and Cloudflare.
Hosting and Analytics
Cloudflare hosts the site and processes network requests to deliver and protect it. Operational information may include requested URLs, response status and network information. We use sampled operational logs to diagnose errors.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics on the hosted site to understand page views, referrals, device types and page performance. Cloudflare describes this service as privacy-first analytics that does not use cookies or track individual visitors across sites. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy and its Web Analytics documentation.
Optional Google Analytics
With your permission, we use Google Analytics to measure page visits, traffic sources, comparison and ballot-tool use, changes to the number of saved teams, graphic downloads, newsletter signup interactions, share-button clicks, visible article depth, clicks to selected source and social destinations, and clicks to open PayPal. Article depth means that a point in the story appeared in the viewport; it does not tell us whether the story was read. For selected external links, we send a fixed destination category and placement, without the link address or text. Google Analytics uses cookies and pseudonymous browser identifiers. A PayPal click does not tell us whether a contribution was completed.
Google Analytics starts after you select “Allow Analytics.” Select “No Thanks” to decline, or use “Analytics Preferences” in the footer to change your choice. We store your preference in your browser for up to six months. Withdrawing permission stops our Analytics tracking and removes this site's Analytics cookies where possible; it does not erase data already processed by Google.
We send page paths and controlled campaign labels, not raw search text, full query strings, supporter names, email addresses, subscription tokens, saved team lists, or payment details. Newsletter confirmation and unsubscribe pages are excluded from this tracking. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled in this integration. Google Tag Manager is not loaded. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Advertising
Poll Behavior does not currently load advertising scripts. Our Google AdSense verification tag identifies the publisher account without sending requests or setting cookies.
Support Payments
When you follow a support payment link, PayPal processes your payment under its own Privacy Statement. PayPal may share your name, email address, transaction reference, payment amount, and subscription status with us so we can reconcile contributions, help with cancellations, and respond to refund requests. We retain payment records as needed for accounting, disputes, and applicable legal obligations.
Our Support page loads PayPal’s donation button code to offer popup checkout. PayPal may receive device and network information and use cookies under its own policies. A direct link is also available to open checkout in a separate tab. We do not add the donation code to ballot, voter, or team pages.
Supporter Shout-Outs
Public recognition is optional. The request form prepares an email in your browser; we only receive it if you send it. We review requests and verify contributions before publishing the chosen name or alias with your permission. We do not automatically publish payment names, email addresses, contribution amounts, or subscription details. Requests and consent records are kept privately to manage your listing.
Email pollbehavior@protonmail.com to change or remove a shout-out or ask about your information. Removal from our site cannot remove copies already saved by search engines or other third parties. See our Support Terms for payment, cancellation, and recognition details.

Links to data sources and other websites take you to services governed by their own privacy practices. Published voter names and ballots come from AP’s public poll.
